Teaching has always been a passion and true vocation and I believe inspiring minds, innovating change and helping every child be the best they can be – still makes it the best job in the world! Throughout my teaching career I have taught all years groups, coordinated numerous subjects, led whole school initiatives, a Key Stage, and developed our Schools Creative Curriculum – another passion of mine, and fundamental to the ethos of our school. As Assistant Head and as our Year 6 class teacher my aim is to support and maintain the high expectations and standards we have of the children in our care.
I love teaching and learning – full stop. I graduated with Dance, English and a QTS degree, and although initially specialising in KS1, my career has spanned all year groups, three schools, a fair few years and wrinkles! Despite having a soft-spot for Maths, English and anything competitive, I don’t have a favourite subject. I love them all! What I thrive on is the process of discovery, designing a curriculum that is owned by the children, facilitated by me, and making connections that truly embed what we learn and drive success. My philosophy is simply: ‘Have a go – you CAN do it!’ and ensuring our days are fun, innovative and full of laughter! Aside form my genuine love of learning, I love exercise and my two Springer Spaniels, Stan and Ollie, who are perfect partners when I’m running in woods, walking on the beach, or collapsing on the sofa with!
