Important notice - NITS
We often have outbreaks of nits in school. This can be dealt with swiftly if EVERY child (including younger or older siblings) is checked at once and then regularly checked, eg weekly, for eggs or nits using a ‘nit’ comb (they particularly like to live behind the ears or in the nape of the neck).
If you, however, find your child has them, the simplest way to deal with it is to check the WHOLE family, shampoo as normal, add a couple of drops of teatree oil to hair conditioner, apply it to the hair, comb through thoroughly with a ‘nit’ comb (a normal comb is not fine enough – chemists stock them) and leave the conditioner on the hair to dry. The teatree oil will act as a deterrent but. you have to comb every 3 days for 10 days in total (once is never enough), because the eggs are virtually impossible to comb out, even with a nit comb, and by combing every 3 days the adult lice are removed once they have hatched out of the eggs. By the 10th day of treatment you should not find any more lice or eggs and the treatment is then complete. If you follow this routine, you will remove the adults before they can be passed on to other people. Then return to weekly checking and combing.
If your child has long hair it is better to keep it tied back in school.
Remember: Regular combing is essential.

Holiday Absence Application Form
OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL - EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
REQUEST FOR LEAVE OF ABSENCE
(Holiday during term time)
APPLICATION FOR ALL HOLIDAY ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
Pupils attend school for a maximum of 190 days each academic year. Full attendance is vital for your child’s educational progress. The Local Education Authority expects all parents/guardians to ensure that their child attends school whenever possible. Absences due to holidays, taken during term time, could hinder academic attainment.
If you wish to apply for your child to be absent from school, please complete this form and return it to school at least two weeks before the intended departure. Thank you.

4. No leave can be granted during the SATs period.
5. Parents must make a case for leave of absence, and each case will be considered on its individual merits. When considering granting leave for holiday during term time, the school will consider:

* ‘Whether the trip/event is rare
6. Under the above regulation, a maximum of 10 school days may be authorised in any one school year unless in exceptional circumstances.
