The Comenius Project
Kingham Primary School is taking part in a European Project called The Comenius Project.
Who was Comenius?
Born in what is today the Czech Republic, Joan Amos Comenius (1592-1670) was an educator who worked for peace and unity between nations. He was convinced that education was the only way to achieve full human potential.
The project involves at least 3 schools in the European Community and involves a joint curriculum project.

Comenius Day 1 st April 2009
We have celebrated our second Comenius Day by learning about our partner school in Heppenheim, Germany.
We started the day with a special assembly in which we saw photos of the school and it’s children. Throughout the day we have taken part in some fun activities- making spiced German biscuits, learning a traditional German dance, playing some playground games and making some Easter crafts to decorate a ‘tree of branches’ in our classrooms.
