World Book Day 2010

We had a fantastic day. Lots of us dressed up as characters from Fantastic Mr Fox. We had lots of Matildas and Sophies too. We read the Enormous Crocodile and then we made our own Roly-Poly birds. They were quite difficult to make but they look fantastic.

Laptops

We have really enjoyed working on the laptops. We have looked at the Espresso program. We work with a partner. We've found out lots of information about vehicles.

History Workshop

We looked at some old toys. The boys liked the wooden gun best. The girls liked the musical instruments and the doll.We loved looking at all the old things and then trying them out. Georgia was very good at making the bed. We were good at ironing. We learnt how to lay a table properly. We pretended to be servants. We cleaned the silver. We hung the washing up. We cleaned the shoes. It was great fun.

Year One Dance Festival

Baby Visit

Patrick's brother Henry is our baby for the year. He came in to see us. He was so good.

Rocket Man

What a brilliant time we had making our rockets. We had to listen carefully to the instructions. We had some mums in to help too. After we'd made them we were able to decorate them. They all looked fantastic. The best part was when we launched them - we were able to press the button. It wa fantastic. They went so high.

Science Dome

We had fantastic time in the Science Dome. We learnt lots of things. Inside was brilliant - it was like a smart board all around us. We saw the moon, planets. We pretended to go on a visit to India and China. We saw the first man to land on the moon. It was amazing.

Pets Visit

Joshua's pet dog Dolly came in to visit

Widgit, Alex 's calf . He is only 6 weeks old - has to have a bottle.

Thorin's rabbit Snowflake. She is blind and deaf. She was so good. She has very pink eyes. She loves to have her coat brushed.

Merlin's kittens came in. They are only 6 weeks old.

Playground Games

Year 5 are learning to be Play Leaders. They practised on us. They had to learn how to play some games and then teach us. We had great fun. At lunchtime now we are able to play these games so we will always have someone to play with now.

Mrs Lewis's Visit

Mrs Lewis is a health visitor. She came in to tell us about her job. She showed us how to measure and weigh babies. She showed us how to give an injection properly too. She showed us some tests she has to do, including eye tests. Amber-Jane was very good.

European Day of Languages

Aloys's Mum Madame Duhamel came in to teach us some French. We learnt to count to 10. We listened to some stories in French, we played some games with French instructions. The best part was our "French breakfast". We had brioche, croissant, bagette, strawberry jam and orange or black currant juice. It was so delicious. We also did some art work. We looked at the work of Seurat and tried to use our little fingers to paint in the "pointilist" style.

Playing in the hospital

Our role play area is a hospital / baby clinic this term. We have had a great time dressing up and pretending to be doctors and nurses. We are not too good at giving injections.

Ballet Dancing

These girls wanted to show us how good they are at ballet dancing. Don't they look fantastic?!

Choosing time

We've loved making models, doing puzzles, playing with the vet's hospital and even writing our numbers on the whiteboard.

Creative teaching with mutual respect, preparing our remarkable young people for the future, whatever it holds.
